Info
In the video loop “Groninger Tiles” Hinrich Gross strings together in quick sequence cut-out photos from the facade of the Groninger Museum (Netherlands). The suggestion of a movement emerges, an (almost) analogous persiflage on the world of pixels, a throwback of our media viewing habits into the world of the simple physical. In the soundtrack, the always same polyphonic signal is superimposed to create a concert of monotony and intensifies the visual overload. For self-rescue, the eye begins to search for superior movement patterns.
A parallel to the present situation (Corona pandemic 2020) is perhaps that we too are searching for new patterns for our behavior. In addition, the sound is really annoying, just like the current restrictions of our previously accustomed life.
